There’s a lot of talk that 24 will feature a kinder, gentler Jack. He’s not in evidence here. Jack has always had a bit of a soft side, which he shows here in trying to protect some kids in the fictional country of Sangala. State Department weenies, and UN Peacekeepers are shown as the scum they are, and politicians are devious, unreliable SOBs. So far so good.
In terms of violence, intrigue, and all of the things we’ve come to love about 24, this isn’t missing too many of them.
